Research Interests

My research interest is perioeprative anxiety in children and the use of preoperative intranasal dexmedetomidine in children to alleviate preoperative anxiety. Perioperative anxiety is common in children and anaesthetic induction can be a stressful period for children, parents and medical staff. Often children worry about needle and injection. Moreover, children of preschool age do not accept mask induction as readily as the school age children who can understand more about the perioperative procedures. With the use of intranasal dexmedetomidine we may reduce anxiety and distress relating to anaesthetic induction. In our future studies we aim to identify the optimum dose and time of intranasal dexmedetomidine as preoperative sedative in children.
